"The DGA is using aggressive, sophisticated social media tools -- such as Twitter, Facebook, automated emails and bogus web sites designed to look official -- to spread disinformation about our independent campaign for Governor," Chafee noted. "SenatorChafee.com uses my image, name and an official home page design to falsely imply an association with the Chafee for Governor campaign."

"Rhode Islanders deserve better. We need to reject the tired old politics of partisan division and destruction. We need to stop the endless bickering that has badly damaged our political system, both in Washington and at the State House," Chafee said

"That's why I'm running for Governor as an independent," Chafee continued. "I am committed to working together with people of all political backgrounds, regardless of party labels or affiliations. Clearly the DGA sees my collaborative and results-oriented approach as a threat to its purely political objectives. But I believe that Rhode Islanders are entitled an honest, open and fair debate about the future of our state -- not cynical political attack web sites launched from Washington."

"Candidates seeking the Governor's office should instead engage in a truthful discussion about the real issues confronting Rhode Islanders -- jobs, education, green alternative energy, ethics, and reforming the state budget, just to name a few -- and reject the divisive partisan politics of old.
